Construction and installation of industrial thin-walled stainless steel pipe

1) Thin-walled stainless steel pipes and fittings should not be in direct contact with cement, cement mortar, and concrete. When the pipeline is concealed, anti-corrosion tape should be wrapped around the outer wall of the pipe or plastic-coated thin-walled stainless steel pipes should be used.

2) When cement mortar is used to fill the concealed pipeline, insulation materials should be used to ensure that there is a gap between the cement mortar and the steel pipe. So that the concealed steel pipe can expand and contract freely.

3) Plastic-coated thin-walled stainless steel (type 316) pipes should be used for burial to avoid acid and alkali corrosion on the outer wall of the pipe or damage to the pipe by sharp and hard debris. Other wrapping materials can also be used as anti-corrosion measures, such as wrapping two layers of polyethylene tape or two layers of vinyl chloride tape, wrapping two layers of asphalt paint (or epoxy resin), and glass fiber plastic cloth for anti-corrosion.

4) The pipeline should be reasonably equipped with expansion and contraction compensation devices and brackets (fixed brackets and movable brackets) to control the expansion and contraction direction or compensation of the pipeline. When the straight section length of the exposed or non-buried hot water thin-walled stainless steel pipe exceeds 10~15m, it is advisable to take compensation measures for the axial direction of the pipe. When the nominal diameter is greater than 50mm, it is advisable to install a stainless steel corrugated expansion joint or a stainless steel linear temperature compensator.

5) Anti-condensation measures should be taken for exposed building water supply thin-walled stainless steel pipes, and hot water thin-walled stainless steel pipes should be insulated.

6) Stainless steel pipes and fittings should be supplied uniformly by suppliers. Stainless steels of different grades should not be welded.

7) Steel pipes and fittings are both thin-walled. When connecting with threaded valves, nozzles, water meters, and other accessories, threads must not be put on thin-walled stainless steel pipes but should be transitioned through threaded fittings such as conversion joints.

8) Oil stains will deteriorate the rubber seal ring, and sharp objects colliding with steel pipes and fittings will cause water leakage, so be sure to pay attention during construction.

9) After the pipeline is installed and the pressure test is passed, it is advisable to use low-chloride ion water for flushing and 0.03% potassium permanganate aqueous solution for disinfection.

10) For pipeline and equipment insulation, anti-condensation, and electric heating, please refer to the national standard drawing collection 03S401.
