Q500ME straight seam welded steel pipe is made from high-strength low-alloy steel (HSLA) with a yield strength exceeding 500 MPa and a tensile strength of 630-800 MPa. This steel achieves a balance of high strength and good toughness through the addition of microalloying elements (such as niobium, vanadium, and titanium) and the controlled rolling and controlled cooling process (TMCP). The carbon equivalent (Ceq) of Q500ME steel is kept low (typically ≤0.45%), ensuring excellent weldability. Second, the Production Process of Q500ME Straight Seam Welded Pipes

Q500ME straight seam welded pipes are produced using the JCOE forming process (pre-bending, J-forming, C-forming, O-forming, and expansion). The main processes include:

1. Steel Plate Pretreatment: Hot-rolled coils are leveled and milled to ensure a width accuracy of ±0.5mm. 2. Forming Welding: Utilizing high-frequency induction welding (HFW) or submerged arc welding (SAW) technology, welding speeds can reach 20-40 m/min. The weld pass rate exceeds 99.5% through online ultrasonic testing (UT) and X-ray testing (RT).

3. Diameter Expansion and Sizing: Mechanical expansion is used to achieve a diameter tolerance of ±0.2% and an ovality of ≤0.6% for the steel pipe.

4. Heat Treatment: Utilizing an offline quenching and tempering (Q&T) process, the metallographic structure is transformed into tempered bainite, enhancing overall performance.

5. Hydrostatic Testing: Tested at 1.5 times the working pressure according to API 5L/GB/T 9711 standards, with a holding time of ≥10 seconds.

1. Energy Transportation: High-pressure natural gas pipelines, deep-sea oil and gas pipelines, shale gas gathering and transmission networks

3. Dimensional Inspection: Use a laser diameter gauge to verify the pipe diameter and wall thickness, with a sampling rate of no less than 5%.

4. Corrosion Protection Requirements: External corrosion protection uses a 3PE coating (thickness ≥ 2.5mm), and the internal coating is a liquid epoxy resin (DFT ≥ 150μm).

Note: Q460ME may be marketed as Q500ME. This can be verified by using a spectrometer to measure the content of microalloying elements such as Nb and V. Authentic Q500ME should have a Nb content within the range of 0.02%-0.05%.
