In industrial production, stainless steel pipes are widely used because of their corrosion resistance and high strength. However, during the use of pipes, it is inevitable that they will be contaminated with oil, dirt, and even rust. These impurities not only affect the efficiency of the pipes but may also hurt subsequent processes. Therefore, the degreasing of stainless steel pipes is particularly important. So, what method should be used for degreasing stainless steel pipes?
First, degreasing by alkaline washing
Principle and operation: The alkaline washing method uses the hydroxide ions in the alkaline solution to react with the fatty acid ions in the oil to undergo a saponification reaction, thereby stripping the oil from the surface of the pipe. During the specific operation, soak the stainless steel pipe in the prepared alkaline solution for 15-20 minutes, and then rinse it with clean water.
Key points and precautions:
-The concentration of the alkaline solution must be appropriate, and too high a concentration may corrode the surface of the pipe.
-The immersion time must be strictly controlled to avoid excessive degreasing and roughening of the pipe surface.
-Protective equipment must be worn during the operation to prevent the alkaline solution from splashing into the eyes or skin.
Second, pickling degreasing
Principle and operation: The pickling method uses the hydrogen ions in the acidic solution to react with the alkaline components in the grease to generate water-soluble substances, thereby achieving the purpose of degreasing. After the stainless steel pipe is soaked in the acidic solution for 10-15 minutes, it can be rinsed with clean water.
Key points and precautions:
-Acidic solutions are also corrosive, and the concentration and soaking time need to be precisely controlled.
-After pickling, it should be rinsed with clean water in time to prevent the residual acid from causing secondary corrosion to the pipeline.
-Good ventilation should be maintained during the pickling process to avoid the accumulation of harmful gases.
Third, solvent degreasing method
Principle and operation: The solvent degreasing method uses the solubility of organic solvents for grease to quickly dissolve and remove the oil stains on the surface of stainless steel pipes. After the pipe is soaked in organic solvents for 5-10 minutes, it can be rinsed with clean water.
Key points and precautions:
-Organic solvents are volatile and toxic. Protective equipment should be worn during operation and carried out in a well-ventilated environment.
-After degreasing, the residual solvent in the pipeline should be thoroughly removed to prevent affecting subsequent use.
Fourth, hot water degreasing method
Principle and operation: The hot water degreasing method uses the physical effect of high-temperature hot water to soften and dissolve grease, and removes it from the surface of the pipe by flushing it with water. After the pipe is soaked in high-temperature hot water for 10-15 minutes, it can be rinsed with clean water.
Key points and precautions:
-The hot water temperature needs to be properly controlled to avoid deformation or damage of the pipe due to excessive temperature.
-After degreasing, check whether there is residual grease on the surface of the pipe in time, and perform secondary degreasing if necessary.
