Steel Pipe Inspection

(1) Check the geometric dimensions of the steel pipe
The outer diameter, wall thickness, curvature, and length of the steel pipe can be inspected on the inspection table with an external caliper, a micrometer, a bending ruler, and a long tape measure.
(2) Inspection of an inner and outer surface of steel pipe
In general, visual inspection is used to inspect the inner and outer surfaces. In addition to visual inspection, the inner surface can also be inspected with a reflective prism. Some special-purpose steel pipes also require non-destructive testing, including eddy current, magnetic flux leakage, ultrasonic, magnetic particle testing, etc., to inspect the internal and external surface quality of the steel pipe.
(3) Mechanical properties and process performance inspection
To verify that the mechanical properties of the steel pipe meet the requirements of the standard, it is necessary to sample the steel pipe for mechanical performance inspection.
(4) Non-destructive testing
Non-destructive testing refers to the direct inspection of internal and surface defects without damaging the steel pipe. At present, magnetic flux leakage testing, ultrasonic testing, eddy current, and fluorescent magnetic particle testing have been widely used in steel pipe enterprises.
(5) Chemical composition inspection
According to standard requirements, the main components of the steel pipe shall be re-inspected according to the batch number of the furnace.
(6) High and low power inspection
It includes the inspection and determination of the macrostructure, non-metallic inclusions, actual grain size, metallographic microstructure, and decarburized layer of steel pipes. Need to be carried out following the requirements of the standard.
(7) Weight detection
For steel pipes with a single weight requirement, a weighing device is also required to check whether the weight meets the contract or standard requirements.
