What is the difference between long-radius steel elbow and short-radius steel elbow

1. Different definitions:

Long-radius steel elbow: Long-radius steel elbow means that the radius of curvature of the elbow is 1.5 times the diameter of the pipe; if it is greater than 1.5 times, it is in the category of elbows.

Short radius steel elbow: The short radius steel elbow means that the radius of curvature of the elbow is equal to the diameter of the pipe, which is often said to be 1 time.

2. Different applications

Long-radius steel elbows are the most commonly used. Generally, the default is also long-radius. Where the pressure is high or the flow rate is high, a long-radius elbow will be used. If the resistance requirements of the solid conveying pipeline are strict, a larger radius elbow should be used. The short radius is generally used in low-pressure fluid or where the elbow is limited. If there are no conditions or not specified in the contract, long-radius steel elbows are preferred.

3. Different implementation standards

Long radius steel elbow: GB/T12459-2017, GB/T13401-2005, GB/T10752-1995, HGJ514-87, DL/T695-1999, D-GD87-0219

Short radius steel elbow: GB/T12459-2017, GB/T13401-2017, GB/T10752-1995, SH3408-1996, SH3409-1996
